After recent cliffhanger in world cup finals between New Zealand and hosts England I thought super over rules are known to every cricket enthusiast. Super over or one over eliminator , conditionalities are appended below
- Each team is allowed to bat one over with three batsmen. It means that you have privilege to loose one wicket in the process. Team batted second in normal game bats first in super over.
- The team with more runs will be declared winner.
- In case of tie the team which has scored more number of boundaries during normal stipulated overs will be declared winners. England was declared winner on this account. If boundaries scored are also the same. Count back starts from the last ball of the super over. Means number of boundaries scored after super over next, number of boundaries scored after 19th over and then 18th over and so on
- Runs scored, catches, stumping and wickets taken during super over will not be credited to batsmen, bowlers or fielders.
- Instead of deciding the name of the winner through a toss of coin this method was devised to use cricketing skills to decide the winner
